I have been able to select a different app on my iPad, and even quit the ASIAIR app altogether, select a different WiFi network, and come back to the ASIAIR later. Guiding and Autorun continued to work without the iPad connected.
In fact, I have been able to connect two tablets simultaneously to the same ASIAIR device. The behavior of the two tablets don't appear as consistent, though. Refreshing the Preview window sometimes would refresh the display on both iPads, and sometimes it only refresh a single iPad. So, I would not recommend actually connecting two iPads to the ASIAIR simultaneously. I don't think it is really intended for that :-).
However, you can connect ASIAIR app to the ASIAIR device using one iPad, and connect SkySafari app/application from a second iPad or from MacOS, and be able to watch both ASIAIR and SkySafari at the same time. I had done that when my mount worked with SkySafari. My current mount is not supported by SkySafari and I have been depending on the object database in ASIAIR itself, and not missing SkySafari anymore.
