Connecting ASIAIR to Orion Atlas Mount

I will be connecting my ASIAIR to an Orion Atlas EQ-G Mount.

Is the V5 synscan handset or the EQDirect cable the way to go in terms of connecting to the mount? which is the most trouble free and effective method in your opinion? Can i use the EQDirect cable with an orion atlas or do i have to use the handset?

Any owners of the ATLAS that can provide some tips and tricks and best practices using ASIAIR? I appreciate any suggestions.
