Wifi Extender setup help needed

I have a Netgear N300 extender, and can not get it to work with Asiair.

Has anyone done this and can give me the steps needed to do this?

I read the article about Amping the Asiair, but it did not give the steps to set up.

Netgear sells various "N300" extenders (travel, desktop, wall outlet). The "300" indicates the speed of the extender and the "N" indicates it supports 802.11n, which only covers the 2.4 GHz band.

With an "N" extender, you will need to first go into the ASIAIR Settings window and disable the "5G WIFI" selection. Then execute a "shutdown" from the same ASIAIR window, then reboot the ASIAIR box after the green Raspberry Pi LED has stopped flashing.

See if that will allow your N300 to see the ASIAIR WiFi access point, and finish the configuration.

Yes, I can see the access point. When I connect to Asiair on Asiairxxx_EXT, it says connected to Asiairxxx_EXT, but then I go into the wifi section of Asiair and it says connected to Asirairxxx, not Asiairxxx_EXT. Is this OK? It seems to function OK, but I am not sure if it is correctly set up.

Yes, you are correctly set up. Very good.

The "ASIAIR Settings" window displays your ASIAIR SSID, not the SSID of the extender.

For peace of mind, you can confirm it by ejecting the ASIAIR app and launch it again. The first window that appears is a white ASIAIR connection window (with the green ENTER button at the bottom). The top left corner of that entry window should show the SSID of the network (in your case, the Netgear extender).
