ASI290MM-mini and RAW Setup

I have done the setup for the ASI290MM-mini for guiding with phd2. My parameters: Gain 50 / Offset 15 / USB 60

In the camera setup of the camera comes the tip to work with RAW8 instead RAW16. "Guiding dont work with RAW16".

Why that, or what is the reason for this statement?
