What is ASI "long exposure mode"?

I'm using TheSkyX to image, and I see "ASI Long Exposure Mode" as an option in its camera setup and in the FITS headers on my images. Is this just an indication that cooling is on? There is also a "Fast Exposure Mode". Is this an indication that cooling is off?

There is a similar setting in FireCapture.

Long exposure means exposure time more than 1 sec.
