Ioptron SmartEQ Pro+ Connections with ASIAIR Autoguider Kit

I am buying the Autoguider Kit which comes with ASIAIR + ASI Camera + GuideScope

I am a Sony A7S user on my Ioptron SmartEQ+

I would like to know how to connect ASIAIR to my mount for Guiding and GOTO, and what cables should I purchase.

While taking pictures, I want to do Autoguiding, but before I start the exposure, I want to use GOTO from my tablet instead of from hand controller

My mount has RS232 (RJ9) port where the Hand controller connects as well as a ST-4 port

Okay, first of all, we need to clarify one thing:

The smart eq series has three models: Smart EQ / Smart EQ Pro / Smart EQ Pro+. Cause they use diff drivers in the ASIAIR:

or . I think your is SmartEQ Pro+, right?

Then let's find out the connection method:

Mount Hand Control

-- RS232 (RJ9) Female Cable

-- RS232-USB Male Cable

-- The ASIAIR USB port.

That's all.

My SmartEQ Pro+ did not come with the RS232-RJ9 cable. So I will buy it.

So all I need is

So using connection to Hand controller from ASIAIR I can do

1. GOTO

2. GUIDING

Both can be done?

Can I also control my Sony A7S with ASIAIR using some cable, or that has to be done independently?

Yes, GoTo and Guiding can be done, will be worked smoothly with the ASIAIR.

The Sony A7S can be used with ASIAIR now. We will try to make it in the future.

Wow, you got it.

This one is more convenience vs the two RS322 cables.

One more question, can you do polar alignment using the mini camera from the kit before starting GOTO and guiding?

It could be if you choose the mini camera as the main camera.
