On Camera ST4 Guiding Port Switch Feature Request

Hello,

your ASIAIR is a great product and works fine.

The autoguiding works fine through the ASI120 mini ST4 guiding port, but not through Skywatcher SynScan mount connection.

So I have to switch the mount control port from goto to autoguiding and vice versa.

Is it possible to implement a seperate autoguiding port control switch, like „on camera ST4 port“ or „mount control“.

Hello Franky,

There is no need to use the ST4 cable to guide since you can connect your mount to ASIAIR thru the RS232 cables with the SynScan HC.

thank you for the quick answer, but i knew that already.

To clarify my request:

The autoguiding works for me through the Skywatcher HC RS232 connection and also through the on camera ST4 port.

But I have problems with autoguiding through the Skywatcher HC RS232 connection.

The autoguiding doesn‘t work properly and i get heavy spikes in RA and DEC direction periodically every 5 - 10 minutes.

The mount itself a Vixen GP has a smooth PEC curve without any great spikes.

I have tested it with several autoguiding parameters without any improvement.

All other mount control functions are working without any flaws.

The on camera ST4 port autoguiding works fine.

So I would like to do GOTO through the Skywatcher HC RS232 port and autoguiding through the on camera ST4 port, without switching the mount control port.

Okay Franky,

Have you do the PA and align before guiding?

As you said, maybe we can check the balance of the gear.

Hello,

the mount was PA and star aligned. I will test the guiding through the handcontroller furthermore, but the weather forecast is very bad for the next two weeks :-(

I will also test the PC version of PHD2 with the handcontroller connection.

My request persists furthermore, but i can not estimate how much work a separation of the guide control port from the mount/goto control port will make.
