Good evening.
In SkySafari setup, turn off the SkyFi button, set IP address to 10.0.0.1, set Port no. to 4030.
For the iPad, connect to the ASIair WiFi (if you use a WiFi extender - highly recommended - I use a Netgear that supports 5G) hotspot.
Ensure Handcontroller is connected to ASIair (this connection is what feeds the mount information to ASIair).
At this point, the iPad is connected to the ASIair, and when you open SkySafari, then connect to telescope, the scope will read the RA/DEC for the scope/mount from ASIair, and will slew to the location.
I find it helpful to close the two apps on the iPad - double click home button, then flick the app from the screen to remove the app from memory. Reopen both application, while connected to ASIair WiFi hotspot.
While connected to the ASIair, you lose internet connection. I have an old 3rd generation iPad that is working well and dedicated to this role.
Have had success in testing this configuration - see my checklist that I use to configure everything for a session, but still suffering with cloudy weather, so haven’t fully tested plate solving, guiding and imaging yet. Have done some darks, flats and daytime imagine capture that have all worked well.
Compared to APT, PHD2, third party Plate Solving, with a gaggle of usb cables connected to my laptop - ASIair could be a game changer - especially for us Newbies to the hobby.
