Sony have released details of a new sensor. See:
https://www.sony-semicon.co.jp/products/common/pdf/IMX492LLJ_LQJ_Flyer.pdf
It appears – although it is hard to be sure from the details provided by Sony – that the IMX492 sensor is essentially the same as the IMX294 sensor currently used in the ZWO ASI294MC camera.
The main difference appears to be that the IMX294 is a quad-Bayer sensor (11.7MP) where the quad-pixels have a pitch of 4.63 micron, while the IMX492 sensor (47MP) appears to access all the pixels individually: the pixel pitch is 2.315 micron (similar to that of the ZWO ASI183 camera).
The IMX492 will be available in both colour and mono versions.
Is there a chance that ZWO might develop an IMX492-based DSO cooled camera?

Andy
