Having trouble getting mount set up.
Skywatcher AZ-EQ5, what is the correct way to hook up with hand controller? I don't have an ASCOM cable. I have male and female RS232 cables. Female has a phone type 6 pin connection that will fit into either the mount "autoguide" port or the Synscan hand controller.
Would I connect this 6 pin to the autoguide on mount and the other end female RS232 to male RS232 with USB flat style to ASIAir? The hand controller has an unused 6 pin connection. Is this used at all? Presume that is for autoguiding via mount/handcontroller only?
The photos in the manual don't show any connection and I cannot get app to see mount.
I use ASCOM with laptop and USB from mount to laptop successfully, though PHD2 can never seem to find stars, guiding has been hard to get working.
I have no view of Polaris so a rough alignment and 3 star is best I can do. Plate solving/guiding is an essential missing step for me, though my subs probably won't exceed 30 seconds.
