With the ASIAIR 1.4 Beta (firmware 4.38) on iOS, Sync-To-Mount in the Telescope Settings window appears to correctly send the local time to the mount.
This means that you no longer need to use the GPS on the mount to set the time and location -- you can set both the time and the location of the mount from iOS ASIAIR app.
Since ASIAIR also has object data (for GOTO) and ASIAIR can home the mount, there is no reason to use the RST-135 hand controller at all with iOS. One fewer item to take outdoors :-).
I just tried the ASIAIR 1.4 Beta indoors, and it seems to correctly GOTO where M42 should be.
Thank you, ZWO.
Since the UTC offset cannot be set from ASIAIR, be sure to set the correct UTC offset in the hand controller once (and once again when daylight savings time becomes active again), otherwise you might get meridian flip problems and "object-below-horizon" problems.
Clear skies
