iOptron CEM40EC Connection Error

Hi,

Hope somebody can help. I have been trying to connect my ASIAIR to my new CEM40EC mount without success. I have been using ASIAIR with HEQ5 fine for a while now.

I have tried all suggestions in the forum including:

I) Making sure baud rage is 115200.

II) Seder firmware on SD to original image and then try connecting to mount.

Every time I get an error. Indeed To make sure system is wired correctly I pull the USB out of the ASIAIR and plug into my laptop and Commander works immediately.

The only thing I have noticed is that my mount is running firmware version 190422. Most of the comments here and on other sites seem to assume version 190220. Furthermore when I look on iOptron website it seems to suggest latest firmware is 190220. Could it be this that is causing the problem?

I would welcome suggestions.

how have you connected the Mount to the ASI Air?

Hi Giuseppe,

I used a USB cable from one of the USB A ports on the ASIAIR to USB B port on the main body of the mount located next to the iPort.

Hi Graham,

I'm using a GEM45 Mount, that is quite similar to the CEM40EC and I don't have any issue using the CEM40 driver on the ASI Air. Maybe you're right, the problem might be in the firmware Mount. You could try the older one in order to check if it works, but is pretty strange this behavior.

Hello Sir,

Yes, please try to update the Firmware to the latest, there is no issue with the CEM40 series and the GEM45 series, just tested and confirmed with the iOptron company.

YOU MUST PLUG INTO THE USB PORT ON THE SIDE OF THE MOUNT, THE ONE ON THE BACK IS A PASS THRU FROM THE USB PORT ON THE VIXEN PLATE THE ONE ONE THE SIDE CONNECTS TO THE MOUNT.

Get a USB to RJ connector that plugs directly from the ASIAIR to the mount.

Update the firmware on your mount and hand controller to the latest.

I do NOT use the USB to RS232 cable.

Thanks all. The ASIAIR updated to latest version of Firmware last night and now is working with CEM40EC.
