If, like some of us, you are already using PowerPoles to distribute 12V, then this item (supplies up to 3A) should fit the bill since the output end is a female USB Type-A connector, like the one on the original ZWO part.

If you don't have the original USB Type-A to micro-USB cable from ZWO, include PowerWerx' adapter cable too if you choose the USB Buddy.
If you are looking for a different cable, at least find one that is meant for "phone charging." Those tend to use heavier gauge wires. And keep that USB cable as short as possible.
The 12V cable can be very long, since the buck-converter chips inside these 12V-5V converters can take a lot of input voltage tolerance. The ASIAIR, however, cannot take a large voltage drop at the 5V end, so that is the end you need to pay attention to.
Make sure the 12V-5V adapter can actually supply 3A. The USB Type-A connectors max out at 2.4 A and many of the converters also only source no more the 2.5A out. The 3A converters (like the original ZWO and USB Buddy) are actually using the USB Type-A connectors past their specifications.
Clear skies,
Chen
