Guiding ASIAIR EQ6 Mount w/EQMOD Cable

My guiding wasn't that good so I'm trying to setup my cables & settings correctly.

Telescope is a WO 61mm focal length 369mm

I have an EQ6-R mount with no USB port.

I use a EQMOD cable from the ASIAIR to the mount (I don't use the handset)

I set the slew rate to 1 before going into the guide function.

I use the ASI120mm mimi camera with ZWO 30mm guide scope which has a focal length of 120

I verify the the guide scope focal length is correctly listed as 120mm (first time it defaulted to 30mm & I didn't change it so this was an issue)

Question is - Can I connect the ASI120mm mimi Guide Camera w/30mm scope to the ASIAIR USB and not use the ST4 cable/port to connect to the guide port on the mount or would this not send the needed info to the mount needed to guide?

I have read if you use the ST-4 connection from the guide camera to the mount you have to then change the scope to "On-Camera-ST4" for guiding and then when finished imaging change it back to your actual scope for the next Goto.

I have EQ6-R Pro without a USB port, and ASI120 guide camera on ASI OAG.

ASIAir is connected to the mount directly via EQMOD USB cable, the guide cam USB goes via the main ASI294 hub.

I do not use ST4 at all, but at first I did think that maybe it was the solution and bought the cable and adapter, but never used successfully.

Hey Stuart, If you use the EQMOD, do not use connect the 120mm to the guide port of the mount. All CMDs will be send thru the EQDir cable. Yes, you can connect the guide camera to the ASIAIR USB port.

Thanks for the answers. Glad to hear I can remove the ST-4 cable and let it send the guiding info throughthe EQMOD cable.

EQMOD is the best way.
