Most mounts have their own unique command protocol.
Ports such as 4030 and 9624 are simply IP or UDP ports on the ASIAIR where the ASIAIR listens to commands from a third program/device such as SkySafari.
Port 9624 is the proxy for the Meade LX-200 Classic protocol. That port number is used by many other astronomy programs, not just by SkySafari.
When ASIAIR connects to an EQMOD mount ("SkyWatcher Motor Controller command protocol") to talk to the mount, ASIAIR also translates the LX-200 commands that it receives on Port 9624 from SkySafari.
This is necessary because SkySafari has been trying unsuccessfully to get the native EQMOD protocol to work for many years (!) now. So, ZWO has included a Meade LX-200 proxy port and the ASIAIR translates the LX-200 commands into EQMOD commands.
Port 4030 is the proxy for iOptron, SynScan, and a couple other similar mount protocols.
If you select "EQMOD with SkySafari," ASIAIR listens only to the Meade LX-200 commands on Port 9624. It has always been that way. As far as I can tell from my mount simulator, in "EQMOD with SkySafari," ASIAIR does not listen to the proxy at Port 4030.
