This post is directed at current users of the ASI 6200 MC Pro camera. I am having some difficulty with vertical noise lines in my images.
Most of my images are 5min subs and I get these artifacts in the integrated image whether I calibrate with bias and dark frames or not. I've attached an example of an integrated image of the Leo Triplet prior to trying to hide the lines with histogram and curves adjustments. I use PixInsight and the only process applied after integration to this image is automatic background extraction (ABE) to remove the green cast.
I use Sequence Generator Pro to run my image collection. I am using 1x1 binning, 100 gain (highest available setting to me) and 50 offset, with the temp set at -10C or -15C. I changed out the stock USB 3 cable at the reseller's suggestion (with no effect) and I'm now powering the camera/cooler with a dedicated AC/DC converter instead of with a 12V battery. Again, no changes to the imagery. I am using a 7 port powered USB3 hub for all my equipment connected to a MacBook Pro running Windows 10 (in Bootcamp). Because of where the computer and hub are placed, I have to run a USB3 extender cable from the hub to meet the USB3 cable from the camera.
Has anyone seen this issue before - and, if so, what did you do to solve it? If you have a 6200MC Pro and haven't seen it, can you tell me how your setup may differ?
Thanks in advance for any thoughts.
Cheers,
Greg
p.s. I tried to lower gain to see if that would have an impact - and it did! At gain of about 30, got image in upper half of frame and nothing in the lower half - with sharp demarcation between.
