I have an EQ6R Pro and am having no problems what-so-ever
You don't need the hand controller nor do you need to star align the mount. I don't use my hand controller at all, it's in a drawer somewhere
Connect a USB cable directly to the USB port on the side of the mount head under the slot where the hand controller connects. Then connect the other end to a USB slot on the ASIair.
Next in the ASIair App, choose EQMOD or EQMOD with SkySafari as the mount connection. I cant remember if it still asks for a baud rate or not but if it does set it to 115200 Thats it - you should be ready to go.
When you start a session make sure your mount is in the "home" position when you turn it on. Next focus your main camera and do a Polar align. Once the polar align is done go to the Scope page in the ASIair app and choose "Go to Home Position" at the bottom of the page. Once that is done choose a bright star in the Go To list on the Preview page and select Go To - once the Scope is there if you don't have Go To Auto Center already selected in the Scope page then do a Plate solve and sync the mount. After that your ready to start your photo session.
If you happen to use SkySafari - in the SkySafari scope set up page choose Meade LX200 Classic as the Scope, 10.0.0.1 as the IP address and 9624 for the Baud rate - be sure the Auto Detect SkyFi in SkySafari is turned off.
There are a few issues with SkySafari and the ASIair app if you try to use the Go-To from SkySafari. The best way around that is to just the the info or identifier of your target in SkySafari and enter it through the Go-To page in ASIair. I haven't had any problems using the Go-To in the ASIair app at all.
Hope this helps - good luck
