D850 Problems

I have original AIR and latest update, and have gotten it to work well with ASI cameras. But when I try to use it with my Nikon D850, I can take preview exposures, but autorun locks up when I try to use it. It will take one exposure, and then stops and locks up. Any idea what the problem is?

Hey billx, I just tested the D850 here, there is no issue. So, let's check:

#1 The settings of your D850,

The DSLRs can only be used as a Main Camera. When using, connect the DSLR to the ASIAIR device directly through the data cable. Before open in the app, you need to set the following options.

Shooting Mode: M

Shutter Mode: Bulb

Image Format: RAW (Only, not RAW+JPEG)

Image Quilty: L (Largest)

Additional, turn off any power-saving feature of the camera that might cause it to hibernate or sleep. Turn off Noise Reduction, Mirror Lock settings in the camera.

If you are going to do Autorun, please make sure that there is enough space on the SD card (refer to the “Estimated Space” of the ASIAIR Autorun setting interface, which should be greater than that value) and the battery is fully charged.

#2 Check the Autorun - Target name settings, just change it to only number or only a-z chars. Please try this.

Thank you for the quick reply.

I re-tried everything. I even reset the camera to factory defaults - and then reset the settings as you said. Enough space on the card - named auto run to a number. Still no luck. I get a message that says "trying to auto reconnect" during the failed sequence. My Ipad is right next to the Air, and no problems connecting for anything else.

I then set up the camera with my computer - same settings - and ran another astrophotography program - no problems - so it is not the camera.

What else could be going wrong?

Update: I tried using smaller file sizes on the D850 - and I could get it to work. It seems that the large file size is causing the problem - perhaps the saving and transferring it to the Ipad is causing a blockage of some kind.

The auto reconnect issue was kinda bug, we are trying to fix it. BUT the connection of the D850, so weird, we tested again, no issues. If you can, please take some shots of your settings and email me: ji@zwoptical.com
