ASIAIR Pro and WiFi Connectivity

Hello,

I have just received a new ASIair Pro. Unfortunately I can not connect to it through the WiFI from my iPad Pro (2nd gen). I keep getting incorrect password. I am using 12345678

It seems to start fine (reaches the long beep) and the WiFi, Reset and Power leds are illuminated. I think the Card led is flashing but it is difficult to see in daylight. The microSD card is in, but I have not checked if it is ok.

I have tried pressing the reset button to reset the WiFi settings. Still no joy. Both a short and long press.

I have an ASIair currently and have no issues with connecting to and using that device.

I did search and could not find any answers to this on the forum.

Please can you advise how I can address this.

Have you been able to connect to the PRO's SSID from another device e.g. laptop/desktop?

note: I had a similar issue with my android phone connecting to my wi-fi access point when I configured it as "ac" only as the phone was 5GHZ capable. I could see the SSID but I couldn't connect to it from my tablet. When I changed the SSID settings to n/ac mixed, it worked ok..

I don't know , perhaps the PRO is in 5GHZ mode and your tablet doesn't support that!!

Hello thanks for the suggestions.

My laptop does not see the SSID which is a bit strange. I do see the SSID on my iPad and iPhone.

I tried with an older iPhone and that heat saying incorrect password too.

I then had a look at the microSD card and the settings file. I set the reset SSID to 1 and then put back in the ASIair Pro. Still would not connect With the default password of 12345678.

I also tried setting 2.4 setting to 1 to force it to boot in that mode. Again same error.

I am worried that there is fault with the the WiFi on this unit...

I just tried from a Samsung android phone and still no joy.

How can I test the wifi on the device to see if working or not?

Your laptop not being able to see the SSID probably means, it can't connect to 5GHZ networks.

Have you tried changing the settings in ASIAIR_Config.txt to connect to 2.4GHZ

AP_Boot_24G=1 and

AP_reset=0

and then reboot the device.

You should then be able to see the device on your laptop.

If you are also comfortable using windows or linux (sorry, I don't have any apple devices) you can mount the SD CARD and have a look at the conf called AP_2.4G.conf in /home/pi folder. this contains the ssid along with the wpa_passphrase (if its not 12345678)

I use a program called ext2explore and you can mount the SD CARD and view the contents.

Hello and yes I tried those config changes.

Still the same issue of incorrect password.

And still the laptop could not see the network.

:( my ethernet doesn't work at all... I know the ethernet port on my ASIAIR is working as i've used a different OS installed on a different card, so I'm thinking a firmware issue on mine.

If you were local, I could help you more.. hopefully, you get your issue sorted.

Ok... I have just had success!

Whilst connected by Ethernet I changed the hotspot frequency band to 5GHz.

Then shut the device down.

Unplugged Ethernet and powered on.

My iPad immediately connected with the default password and the app is working wirelessly!

Just to check I shut everything down and restarted and all worked straightaway!

Maybe there is an issue with the 2.4 GHz

try the ext2explore tool if you have windows and have a look at the config file for 2.4GHZ.... its will be read-only so nothing to mess up.
