After much trial and error (yuk), I was successful in connecting to my home WiFi network.
1. I programmed my Netgear WN2500RP Extender (not repeater) to see my WiFi network.
2. I set the ports of the Netgear Extender to 2.4 Ghz not 5 Ghz.
3. Connected an ethernet cable from Extender directly into the ASIAir.
4. On my iPad I closed and reopened the ASIAir app.
5. I connected my iPad to the Extender's 2.4 Ghz WiFi (not my usual wifi network without the extender).
6. I opened the ASIAir app.
7. The app showed that it was on the Extender's Wifi.
8. Then I scanned for the ASIAir's wifi and it found it.
9. Opened up the app's wireless setting
10. Set the Frequency Band to 2.4 Ghz (required as I understand it)
11. Turned on WiFi Station Mode
12. Select the 2.4 Ghz Extender's WiFi
13. Done!
The beautiful things about this are:
1. you can use your phone or tablet as usual as you have your internet access back.
2. you can be much further away from your scope.
3. It may download images faster (not tested this thoroughly - don't understand why that could be).
Hope this helps and saves you some grief.
