ASI533MC-P Horizontal Banding

Hi,

I just opened up my new ASI533 today, did some indoor tests and wanted to ask and confirm whether random horizontal banding is normal for this sensor, as I read anecdotal reports elsewhere that it was clean and structureless.

Below are 3 sets of 3 continuous bias exposures showing random horizontal banding at default unity gain settings (Gain 100, Offset 70, USB Limit 40), with NINA native driver, NINA ASCOM driver and ASIImg at -5C. Power supply was a celestron powertank pro, USB cable was the one included in the box and laptop was plugged into an imuto 19V output power bank that I've been using with my laptop in the field for a couple of years now.

The banding is not very pronounced, though it does change structure and pattern with each frame. It will probably average out well in a master bias.

At Gain 0, the banding is much more pronounced and at Gain 360, minimal. It is also present in longer Dark exposures - I can provide screenshots and/or FITS files on request.

I'm not making a fuss or a complaint, simply asking if this is normal behavior for this sensor.

Yes, this is normal behavior for this sensor. And it can be calibrate in post processing software

Thanks for confirming that, good to know it's not something wrong with my unit, power supplies or anything to do with indoor electromagnetic interference. It does indeed calibrate out well.

Hello. I've just received 500mc pro camera and It has the exactly same issue as yours. The horizontal banding noise appears in every exposure frames and It is minimized around gain 400.
I wanted to know your experience whith this camera.
Have you tried capturing DSO with this camera?
There were not any problem with this issue?
If you share your experience It would be good advide for me 🙂
