Hi,
I setup the zwo oag with 2600mc-pro and 290mm guide camera. Using the zwo helical focuser, achieving common focus was relatively easy. Note this is installed on a Celestron C8 w/ 2032mm FL.
Last night was its first test. I first focused the 2600mc-p on Arcturus via diffraction mask. Then nudging the OTA over I focused the 290mm on Arcturus via diffraction mask also. Very easy with the helical focuser.
However the first problem I found is that AsiAir could not plate solve on a crystal clear night at 8,000’ (2439 m). My fov is 0.67 x 0.45 degrees. The rare times it did work it changed my FL to 2232mm. You guys need to make this work. A lot of us have long FL telescopes and I don’t want to thrown on a reducer just cuz AsiAir won’t plate solve. Or maybe the problem is the 2600mc-p as I use to be able to plate solve with my Cannon. The sensors are similar in size.
I randomly visited a variety of targets, not fiddling with guide camera orientation, and I could not find any stars that the 290mm was able to image. I was running 5 second guide intervals and 100% gain. This wasn’t enough. Some folks at CloudyNights forum run intervals of 10 seconds on Phd2.
Ya’ll need to increase the guide interval to at least 10 seconds in AsiAir and allow binning control of the guide camera too in that module. Please make these changing soon in a new AsiAir release.
Thanks,
B
