EAF - How to safely plug in the hand control/temp probe

Good morning

Just a simple question

Can I plug in the hand controller or the temperature probe when the EAF is powered on or should the EAF be powered off before inserting the hand controller/temperature probe. I am considered about causing a short circuit and possibly damaging the EAF when inserting or removing the plugs.

It will not damage the EAF.
