If you are on iOS, you can prepare ahead of time by downloading a copy of Apple's TestFlight app and backing up the microSD card with the current firmware.
Check the ASIAIR Facebook page periodically -- ZWO usually posts an announcement and a link to the Beta on FaceBook. This ASIAIR Support page appears to be the neglected step-child :-).
Once the Beta link becomes active (usually within 24 hours after a ZWO announcement), just click on it and it will start up TestFlight. Pretty much all of your preferences (camera types, focal lengths, etc) will carry over, but you will led through the introduction ("click here," "click here," ad infinitum) all over again. TestFlight will show what is new, and often, you can find it in the release notes too (that three dots at the top right in the ASIAIR window).
The Beta will almost for sure download new firmware into the microSD card. So, if you plan on reverting back to the old non-Beta version, be sure to first back up the current microSD. To revert, simply delete the Beta app, and go back to the App Store to download the released app and boot the ASIAIR up using the non-beta microSD card.
