Automatic Focusing fails when re-focusing for green filter???

For the second time in a row, and the only times I’ve tried doing LRGB imaging with the new automated focusing (AF) feature, focusing failed. In fact it made the focus MUCH worse when AF “completed” re-focusing the scope between the last red-filtered image and the first green-filtered image.

(In case you’re wondering, I always start an imaging session by manually getting a good initial focus on a bright star using a Bahtinov mask.)

Also, there was no issue when AF did its thing before switching from the Lum to the Red filter.

These results came with Beta Release 6.69 and going forward I will update my app/ firmware to 6.71.

My automation script was:

Lum - 10 images, 120 seconds each

Red - 5 images, 120 seconds each

Green - 5 images, 120 seconds each

Blue - 5 images, 120 seconds each

My ASIAIR Pro is setup as follows:

DC Power-1---ASI183GT

DC Power-3---Anti-dew Strip-1

The autofocus failure turns out not to have been associated with switching from the red to the green filters. I know this to be the case because this kind of autofocus failure occurred while imaging with a OSC camera (ASI533MC) WITHOUT a filter wheel. Instead, it happened when a refocusing procedure was triggered by a timer (ASIAIR-Pro was programmed to refocus every hour).

Here’s evidence (attached image); I was imaging NGC 281 using a succession of 3 minute exposures (I programmed ASIAIR to take 72 of them). Note how image #59 is in focus and #60 is terribly out of focus. The occurrence coincides with when ASIAIR-Pro completed its 2 round of focusing, the first being between images #29 and #30, when refocusing was successful.
