My experience with the cooling fan turning on is that the fan only initially turns on when there is a valid USB connection. You can confirm with your old setup by leaving out the USB connection, but leaving the 12V connected -- the fan will not turn on.
That, plus the fact that you do not see any Camera in the drop down menu, appears to indicate that you may have a bad USB connection to your camera.
You could attempt debugging by first removing everything from the USB ports of the ASIAIR. Then plug in a USB Memory Stick successively into each of the four Raspberry Pi ports. Check if the ASIAIR reports that you are on Udisk when a USB stick is added. If it works on some port(s) and not others, you may have some bad (hardware) USB port.
If none of the ports work, there is a possibility that the USB driver in the Raspberry Pi operating system was not able to initialize.
You can try to restore the firmware from a saved copy, then, to make doubly sure, delete the app from your tablet and download it again from the App Store. Boot the hardware, then launch the app and let the newly downloaded app update the firmware in the microSD card to v1.5.
Stay within 1 foot of an ASIAIR Pro when you update the firmware through WiFi. For the most solid connection, connect the ASIAIR's LAN port to your router, and update the firmware through your home network.
