I was using 375 unity gain the other night for imaging Mars with my 224mc but 40% of frames were being dropped as RAM plummeted. USB traffic was set at its lowest level in firecapture as recomended. My laptop has a SSD with the cam running at 160-180 fps. I tested the same settings later and again the frames were being dropped but not on any other gain setting. I've only started planetary imaging again after a 3 year break so am relearning the settings. Is unity gain of any significance or am I getting mixed up with long exposure imaging. I'm sure I recall unity being recomended on here?
