Hi, I just took delivery of my new Astrotrac360. I am trying to guide it with the ASIAIR that I also use with my AP Mach1. For the Astrotrac I have to use the ST4 interface on the mount. Calibration works just fine and shows normal behavior. Afterwords RA guiding is no problem at all, however DEC guiding shows an anomaly. In one direction (north) dec guiding works fine, however when a guiding signal is given in the other direction (south in my case) after one pulse the mount moves at least 8 arcseconds to far south and then needs a lot of north commands again to get the star centered again. It is as if the south guiding signal continues for a few seconds and is then stopped by a signal in the opposite direction. Any ideas as to why this may be? I haven’t tried any computer guiding yet to see if that makes a difference, but this behavior does not happen during calibration, but only when it starts guiding. That is why I suspect there is something wrong in the software. Any ideas are welcome. Also let me know if anybody else is seeing this.
Thanks,
Peter
