I heard the native driver defaults to offset 8 (at unity gain, 120). But the ascom driver uses 30 by default.
So what is the better offset value at unity gain? 8 or 30?

ASICap is for planetary imaging, the better offset value is 8. ASCOM is for deep sky, the better offset value is 30. So please both keep the default.
