ASI120mini for polar alignment

Is there a minimum sensor size to use with the ASIair pro for polar alignment. I want to use the ASI120mini as the main camera but don't know if the sensor is large enough to do plate solving. If not would the ASI290mini work.

Sorry, should have noted that the scope is a Meade EXT LS F10 1524mm, so the FOV is small.

Both 120mini and 290mini are guide cameras, they are not suitable as main cameras. Instead you can use 120MM-S or 290MM.

The 2 camera comparison on the ZWO site shows the only difference between the 120mini and 120mm-s is shutter speed and both get 4 stars for planetary imaging. Does the slower shutter speed of the mini have an effect on star definition? I thought it would be longer exposure time that would be needed and the shutter speed wouldn't be an issue?

Yes，you are correct but it just can't be used as main camera.
