ASIAir Pro another polar alignment issue

Hi guys!,

i just recently put my hand on a beautiful red box ASIAir pro, and I have been playing unsuccessfully with the polar alignment method of the AAP, for some reason when pointing to the SCP does it’s having trouble doing the first plate solving and then when it does the plate solve and slew 60°, doesn’t do any plate solving.

I have checked the focal length of the scope, calculated by the AAP, and my camera is a DSLR Canon 70D attached to a Skywatcher 150PDS, the focus is correct due to a bat mask to achieve focus.

I’m going a bit crazy here because I have no idea what’s going on!.

if anyone would like to share some thoughts or experiences I’ll be more than appreciated!.

Is your view blocked? Mine is and plate solving is either failing or taking too long if there are other objects are in the picture, like your neighbor's balcony! 😑

Hi guys,

thanks for stopping by, magically the AAP started working with plate solving and polar alignment, as I made some changes but honestly I don’t know if that was the reason or just the moon washing out all the stars in the sky.

for some random reason I flipped the camera upside down as my telescope has an inverted image (at least I think it is) so flipped and polar alignment started working.

Plate solving after that was pretty sweet, and managed to connect my AAP with my EQ mount directly by USB port, many people told me to get an EQDir cable for that reason, but as soon as I connected it, GoTo functionality and plate solving were superb, jawdropping for me that I’m centering objects with the HC.

I don’t know if having the EQDir cable would be more beneficial than connecting it straight into the HC, but so far is working.
