ASIAIR pro questions

Hi all

i have just ordered the ASIAIR pro and have a few questions if I may (I’m really new to Astro photography)

I have a Nikon DS5600 is it best to connect via usb or standard shutter release cable as I have seen mixed information?

I currently do not have a goto mount but I understand that the ASIAIR can control one, but can you use the object location with a manual mount ie point it in the general direction, it plate solves and indicates where you need to move etc etc

Mrstella1971. I believed you will need both cables. USB to transfer the images taken to the storage drive or internal storage memory. The shutter release cable is for the ASIAIR to trigger the flip mirror. As for using the ASIAIR as a pointing device manually. I don’t think it can
as it has no coordinates feedback from the mount to compare with the preprogrammed parameters to adjust and plate solving should the mount is off target.

Few models require shutter release cable in addition to USB (like my Nikon D90)
USB is mandatory for all. And few models don’t allow bulb control via USB (they let you expose max 30”), so you need the shutter release cable as well
