I have two AAPs and the "Switch Device" is not easy to use, it requires constantly retyping the IP address into the pop-up and connecting, it also requires me remembering and taking note of which device is which, and what it's current IP address is, which is not easy to get; I have to log into my router and hut through all my devices to locate the two AAPs, and then determine which is which.. in my case this requires noting the Mac addresses as well.
This doesn't fit the theme of "easy as 1,2,3..."
Even with a single AAP, the "SCAN" never works for me. I always have to manually go find my devices IP, manually type it in, even though I connected via Ethernet and have a stable connection. the device is clearly found on my router, but ASIair can't find it.
So could you add a feature to improve the initial scan and connect, and switching devices? This could be considered two separate feedback requests, but they are related and could be fixed together.
Some suggestions that would help.
- Please allow me to make a favorites or save an AAP's MAC and give it a name... Then SCAN would locate the specific device by MAC and connect. this would probably be more reliable than saving an IP that can change.
- Improve the SCAN logic to identify all AAPs with better precision, it seems to give up quickly on SCAN and present no results even though I have two AAPs on the network, it finds none.
I have a Netgear Orbi and it works fine. the AAPs connect to a small Netgear ethernet switch, then run to the main router. I never have any network issues with the AAPs, once I get them connected everything works fine. it's only the scanning discovery or switching devices that seems to fail.
I'll add it's always done this, it never works for me. from 1.5.1 to 1.6 (9).
