gain setting for deep sky

dear all,

i'm making a cold box for the asi120mm and i'd like to try to take some halfa nebula images and classic deep sky object. as you know the cooling ccd has a pre setting gain value, i'd like to know what is this value for asi120mm

For how many second exposure? I have to take 4 or 5 minutes for shot. With gain at 50 or 60 % didn't I risk cmos saturation?

exposure only 5-10s

otherwise there is lofs of noise without cooling

Sam no problem, i've done a cold box the camera is more or less at 0°C (cmos 4 or 5 i think ) i think it's enought for 4 minutes or not? I take some dark too

Hi, I did some 2min exposures on M109 with my Peltier-Modded Cam, gain set to 5 in FC. Sensor temp. Was about 5 degree centigrade. Here is the result: http://www.astrobin.com/44191/

you can exposure minutes if you can cold it

@ Robbeh i think that a gain 5/100 is too low.... i'll try from 20 or 30.

@Sam with short but a lot of exposure there is a problem.... signal/noise ratio..... with an Halfa filter i need 4 minutes exposure..... it's a try if will be a bad try i'll use asi only with C9.25 and planets

PS i've a cooled ccd but has small sensor.... i'll use it for guiding
