ZWO 7-Position Electronic Filter Wheel - 36mm Size

I just received a 'NEW' ZWO 7-Position Electronic Filter Wheel - 36mm Size with the LRGB HA OIII SII filter set. I'm curious about the 'holes' that are on the front and back of the filter wheel assembly. There are 6 holes on one side and 4 on the other side of the assembly that do not have screw threads and are just holes that are drilled into the body of the assembly.
To me these 'holes' will allow light to enter into the body and disrupt or add to the amount of light coming into the filter wheel assembly. If these 'holes' are suppose to be there what purpose are they for? If they are not suppose to be there should I return the Filter Wheel Assembly and obtain one that does not have these 'holes'. The pictures I see of the assembly do not show these 'holes' so did I get a defective product?

Perfectly normal.

I have a EFW 5x2" that have these holes, 8 on one side and 4 on the other.

One set of holes let you bolt the EFW directly flush onto a camera after you remove the camera's tilt plate. The side with 4 holes lets you attach an OAG to the filter wheel, likewise flushed, all without using any threaded spacers. The tilt plate that you removed from the camera is then attached to the empty end of the OAG; or you can buy a tilt plate with different hole size.

Scroll down about half way and you can see a set of four images with the holes indicated with blue circles.

It is odd that you have only 6 holes on the camera side, though. You might have some older model?

Thanks for the response.
Interesting about the holes being to attach to the camera, I'll check that out.

But the question remains: If I don't 'attach' to the camera, should these 'holes' be covered up?
