Connecting EAF to ASIAIR Pro

I will be using the EAF with an ASIAIR Pro, and the way I see it I will need three USB 2.0 ports: one for the guide camera, one for the EQ Mod cable, and one for the EAF (the newest version). The problem is that there only two of those ports on the ASIAIR Pro. Since so many people are using this system, there must be a way to do it. I’m thinking maybe a USB splitter, or hub, but I’m not tech savvy enough to really know.

What imaging camera do you use? If it is a ZWO one, does it have a USB hub? If yes, simply plug the EAF and the guide camera in there. I do it all the time and it works like a charm.

wvreeven Yes! I’m using a 294 MC Pro, and I’ve never really noticed those two USB ports. Thanks so much!

Why can’t you connect it to one of the usb 3.0 ports?

WalterT both 3.0 ports are in use: usb memory stick and the imaging camera. Beside, the EAF is a usb 2.0, so it wouldn’t work would it?

In theory I would need six USB ports for the following equipment:

Imaging cam ( Asi 1600 MM)
Guiding cam (Asi 120 MM)
Filter wheel
Mount
EAF
USB storage

The imaging cam, guiding cam, mount and USB storage all plug directly into the Asiair. The EAF and filter wheel plug into the imaging cam.

Daveko My pleasure. And FYI USB3 ports are backward compatible with USB2 so, yes, you can plug a USB2 device in a USB3 port and it will work. Then other way around will not work, or with greatly reduced performance.
