Auto Focus and other issues with ASIAir Pro

I would need your advice with the issues I have with ASIAir Pro.
I have a Celestron EdgeHD 8” on AVX mount. Initially I fitted the Celestron Focus Motor, but had to replace with ZWO EAF when I bought the ASIAir Pro.
It’s been a long time since I could not use it due to bad wheather and raining.
So, the issues that continue even now with the version 1.6.2 and from 2 nights ago also the latest updated firmware 8.11

PA does not control the mount – it’s a known issue with Celestron mounts. The solution is to keep the mount powered off and rotate manually. Otherwise, the mount rotates, but the app still says 0 degrees and never finishes. How come it’s still not solved?
the Plate Solving no longer seems to work – it just takes a very long time and does not finish
I have put the ZWO recommended Wi-Fi extender (TP Link AC750 Travel router TL-WR902AC), but even if I am close to the scope, the app freezes, is not responsive. Especially in the focusing or searching a new target object (it was working fine a few months ago)
Auto Focus - although I do focus manually and I see the stars rather well focused, Auto Focus runs with the EAF, but screws everything. In the end the focus is completely off ! With the ASIImg app on PC the AF is fine
So essentially, instead of doing astrophoto, I have a solution -supposed to work- but that prevents me to do this. What can I do?

Sorry for all issues you have. Have you upload the log before turn off everything? We need to analyze the log.

Hello, I had a problem with auto focus during my shoot last night using the ASIAIR Plus. I used a bahtinov mask for initial focus, so I disabled the option to auto focus ‘before each object starting’ (since I was already perfectly focused). The shoot started (only one object targeted i.e. PAC-Man nebula) and completed in approximately 8 hours. When I looked at the pics taken over night, the first few were fine (from correct initial focus), but then all the others were out of focus!! I looked at the logs, and the auto focusing never triggered, despite having both ‘auto focus on 2 degree changes’ and ‘auto focus every hour’ checked. Does turning off ‘auto focus before each object starting’ disable auto focus altogether??? Why else would auto focus not trigger at all? @Tech@ZWO#48290 @Tech@ZWO

LexAstro 2 degree changes for af is aggressive. 5-10degrees matches thermsl expansion coefficient of aluminum and glass better

@ASIAIR@ZWO#59779 Hi, thank you for the reply. I also sent the logs for this yesterday. I have to say, I really hope these AF issues will be resolved. I love all your products, 2 x DSO cameras, 1 x Planetary camera, two guide cameras, three EAFs, two ASIAR Plus, one AM5. I also invested in mid to high end telescopes and iOptron mount (in the thousands of dollars). And, today, so many of my full night shoots are ruined only because of failing auto focusing, which is really frustrating (especially because of the significant investment in high end equipment). I trust your brand so I built up my equipment around ZWO’s ecosystem, as you can see above. But today, the AF issues are preventing me from fully enjoying this amazing hobby. Anyway, really hoping the AF issues can be resolved so I can finally get enjoyment out of this fantastic, but very expensive gear. 😄. Next step for me is to invest in ZWO monochrome cameras, filter wheels and narrowband filters, but I’m holding back until I have confidence that investment will not be ruined by AF issues. Without good AF, we have nothing. 😉. Thanks for all you do to advance this hobby, and making it accessible for so many.

LexAstro We are still working on the v2.0 beta version. Planned to release it the next week. And the AF is optimized.

Swizerlan I’ve never had a ‘working’ version. These focusing issues pop up randomly across the two software version I’ve used since owning the ASIAIR.
