120mm-s inappropriate guide camera?

I’m a zwo fanatic. Among other things, I just set up my second automated scope with an asiair pro, EAF 12 volt, 533mc pro, William 32 mm slide base guide-scope, William Redcat 51, and a 120mm-s mono camera AS A GUIDE CAMERA. The 122 appears to display a number of hot pixels, but I’m unsure since focus may be off as yet. When I try calibrating the guidecamera I get something like west step and dist, with a number. So far, guiding never begins. Can anyone offer insight into what this means and how I fix it? Finally, can I use the 120 as a usb 2 device not 3? I’m wondering if I bought the wrong camera…. Thanks

Lots of people use the 120MM-S or, like me, the 120MC-S as a guide camera. I use AAP as well. It all works very, very well. Yes, you can connect the 120MM-S to the USB2 port of the 533MC. I connect my 120MC-S that all the time to the USB2 ports on my 1600MM and 6200MM cameras.

Concerning your guide issues: first make sure that you have focused the 120MM-S properly. What mount do you use?

Maritime Did you use that mount with AAP as well? The west step and dist indicaters show that the guiding calibration is on going. Did you wait long enough to see it indicate east steps and an increasingly smaller dist? Did you select a star for AAP or did it select multiple stars for you? If the latter, did AAP select real stars or hot pixels? If it selected hot pixels, try selecting a star yourself and see if the calibration then successfully finishes.
