Connecting a Vonets to my ASIAIR pro.

Last night was the first clear night so I set up and after levelling the mount (skywatcher eq3-2) and pointing North,using a compass, and ensure everything was lite up to signify connection Iwanted to do a polar align, but it wouldn’t, I went inside my house and sat about 8’ away from the aap, it kept losing connection, I have as recommended by zwo, a Vonets WiFi extender, I think I cannot have set it up right. I have read and reread the little set up guide that comes with the Vonets, but that is, as far as I’m concerned, useless. I watched a video by Dave Eagle but there are, for me, so many holes I found it impossible to follow. Can anyone advise please. My Vonets is a VAP11AC. I have looked on the Vonets web site but the instructions there are as clear as mud. I am not tech savvy so any instructions need to be idiot level. I believe the ASIAIR pro gives out its own WiFi so do I connect to my home WiFi or the AAP? This is where I’m getting very confused, which one do I connect to and how?

Were you ever able to connect your Vonets to your home wifi? I have followed the booklet which is the same as the document at the link provided by tech@zwo. Dave Eagle's video helped to explain things, but there are holes. For me, when I reboot the Vonets, it never completes rebooting. I let it go for more than 2 hours last week and it never completed the reboot. I long ago began thinking that the Vonets devices branded for ZWO is simply trash.

Those instructions are ridiculously complex for such a simple thing that we are buying the extender for. We are not buying the extender for setting up a business network. We are buying it for fixing the issue with a weak AsiAir Pro Wi-Fi signal. So far, the only way I succeeded was by following those few steps:

Connect Vonets to AsiAir RJ45 network connector and power it from one of AsiAir power connectors
Turn on AsiAir
Connect your tablet or computer to Vonets-5G Wi-Fi and enter 12345678 as password
Disable/Forget your ordinary AsiAir Wi-Fi connection so it doesn't interfere later if you lose Vonets
Start AsiAir app and wait until it finds AsiAir device. Remember it is not AsiAir via Wi-Fi. It is the wired AsiAir via RJ45 to Vonets. Click on it to connect.

Might not be the perfect way of using it but gives a few more meters away from AsiAir.

Am really struggling with the same issue-have tried multiple times to reset the vonets, and connect it to my home wifi network-when I try to reboot the vonets to recognize the network all I get is a spinning wheel forever. Have looked through the instructions above as well as the videos cited and I must be still missing something. Any help or advice would be appreciated.

greenstar I had the same issue. I found that as long as I clicked on Apply for any changes I made before doing the reboot, that even though the wheel is spinning and saying Please Wait, the other message says The device is rebooting, please wait one minute before attempting to login again. So I waited a couple of minutes, closed the Vonets app, and after a couple of minutes and refreshing my wifi on my tablet, the changes were made and I could login again. So don't wait for the spinning wheel, just wait a minute or two and then close the Vonet app.

Hi everyone sorry it’s taken a while but I gave up with the Vonets. Couldn’t get it to work so now I just use the ASIAIR pro and don’t go too far away from it.

After a few frustrating attempts, I believe I have cracked the code on this thing. I'm using a VONETS VBG1200, but these instructions should apply to the other Vonets WiFi Repeater/Bridge devices.

Before connecting to the ASI Air Pro, you need to connect the Vonets device to your home network. I found it works best (if at all) if you connect the ethernet cable on the Vonets to your wired network rather than try to configure over WiFi. [Instruction manual alludes to this in Chapter 2.1 (Recommend Method)(sic)]. Once you've powered on the Vonets and connected the ethernet cable to your home network or directly to your router, open a browser and go to http://vonets.cfg, find your home WiFi SSID, enter your WiFi password and leave all the settings at their defaults (I suppose you could tick the Disable Hotspot if you desire since you won't be using the Vonets as a hotspot) and then hit Apply. Give it a couple of minutes to save the configuration and you should be golden.
Now connect the Vonets power to one of the power outputs of the ASI Air Pro or via USB. At this point DON'T connect the ethernet cable. Power on the ASI Air Pro and fire up the ASI Air App. Connect using the ASI Air Pro Built-in WiFi as you would do without the Vonets device. Once you've connected this way, open the Networks menu (WiFi icon) and make sure Station Mode is off.
Now connect the ethernet cable to the ASI Air Pro. You should see a pop up message "Network Cable Plugged In" on the app and there should now be an IP address in the Wired Ethernet box. Take note of that IP.
Disconnect the device you're using for the ASI Air app from the ASIAIR_xxxxxxxx WiFi and connect to your home network. This will cause the ASI Air Pro to disconnect.
Now enter the IP address you noted in step 3 and connect via the Wired Ethernet.

Your ASI Air Pro should now be connected to the Vonets device via the ethernet cable which is in turn connected to your home WiFi with most likely much improved performance.
