EAF backlash compensation not working

Scope AT92 refractor
ASIR pro ( v 1.7 (8.48), with EAF focuser
Ipad Air Pro 11 inch, IOS v 14.7.1
I have tried setting up the backlash compensation in the ASIR pro
Following the EAF user manual I moved the focuser (rack & pinion on AT92 scope) out 1000 steps.
I then moved IN by 10 step increments until the fine focus knob finally moved (after 30 steps in)
I did this twice to verify .
I inserted 30 into the backlash box
I then moved the focuser out 500
I moved the focuser in 10 and it moved a very little. (a few counts by what I could see of the knob movement)
I moved another 10, no reaction
another 10 no reaction.
Another 10 and focuser knob started moving normal amount for 10 step.
I tried same move test except moving OUT
Same issue, The backlash compensation did not seem to make any difference .
I tried this several times and the backlash number did not seem to have any affect.
Any Ideas on this.

Did you first reset the Backlash parameter in the EAF Setup to zero before doing the above?

Another 10 and focuser knob started moving normal amount for 10 step.

If you need an extra 30 steps to overcome backlash, perhaps you can try adding an extra 30 steps to the existing Backlash parameter, and test again to see if things improve.

thannks for getting back to me.
I reset the backlash value and did some more testing.
I came up with a better value (35) and the EAF now seems to be working better with the Scope focuser.
I am now happy with the operation.
