Video folder missing

Hi All,
Last night I had the update through for ASIAIR PRO to V 1.7 FW 8.48 and all worked well. I did an autorun and also some planetary video. This morning when I popped the USB into my PC, the video folder is not showing. All the autorun files are there as expected.
I have check that the videos didn't save to the SD in stead.
When I put the USB back into AAP, the videos show up in the file management section and are all playing fine on my ipad.
Any ideas why the video folder, that normally shows up within the ASIAIR folder on the USB is not visible?

Where were you looking for the video files?

If you have been using ASIAIR before ZWO changed the file structure (without documenting it), there will be an extra folder called udisk at the root level of the USB memory. This is not where the files are now stored.

Instead, navigate into the ASIAIR folder. You will find a Video folder. That is where you should find your AVI files.

On iOS/iPadOS, the MP4 files (which are rendered useless by the ASIAIR watermark that serves no purpose) are in your tablet's Photo album.

You can reformat the drive to get rid of the orphaned folders.

Hi Chen, I was looking under the ASIAIR folder, as this is where the video folder had been previously. There are no files in the udisk folder. The video files were saved as AVI format.
I am pretty sure the video files are on the USB stick as when connected to AAP without the USB inserted, the files do no appear in the image management section. Once I plug in the USB, they appear.
They just don't appear anywhere when I plug into the PC.

I had another session last night to record some video, just to see if there was anything I had done that could have led to the video not saving correctly. I tried the option to save both AVi and MP4. Both file types seemed to save ok with the MP4 saved to my ipad. The new AVi files show in the file management section, along with those from the previous night.
But after shutting down the session and testing the USB in my PC, there is still no video folder showing up.

Has anyone else used the video function since the latest update?

Looks like Windows, which I don't use.

Have you tried accessing the Video files through the ASIAIR Samba server (log in as guest)? That interface is common between macOS and Windows. Should work for you too if it works for me.

I have been using Video mode (ASIAIR v1.7, firmware 8.48), including tonight, and the AVI files (jpg thumbnail, text summary and AVI video) are all there in the Samba server (together with the MP4 files in the iPadOS Photos album).

My USB Drive is actually a Samsung T7 SSD and not a USB stick, but that shouldn't make a difference.

I'll give the samba server a try to see if I can get the files that way.

I checked the USB on a MAC as well and it is the same.

This sure is weird.

I just tried a quick experiment with a USB thumb drive (Patriot Rage 256 GB)in a v2 ASIAIR.

Cleared the drive in ASIAIR Storage Setting so there is no files.

Did a short video capture (AVI only, no MP4).

Unmounted the USB drive and moved it to a Mac (M1 Mac Mini).

macOS Finder shows ASIAIR folder with 5 folders in it. Autorun, Live, Plan, Preview and Video. All are empty except for the Video folder, which has the three files associated with the capture.

So, I can see the Video files in both Samba and the USB drive. This is what the thumb drive looks like on the Mac.

Really no idea why you do not see it.

Try a different thumb drive? I don't know. You probably don't want to reformat the drive since there may be good video captures on it.

Try this: use Image Management in ASIAIR Storage Settings to copy the files from the thumb drive over to the microSD card. Remove the thumb drive and Insert a different clean USB thumb drive into ASIAIR. Now copy those files from the microSD card over to this clean thumb drive. See if you can read this new drive. If you can retrieve the files you need, you can now reformat the original drive, or just throw it away.

I created a couple of .avi videos last night. Have no issue seeing the folder and files in Windows 10. In addition to the .avi files, it created .txt and the unneeded .jpg files. I checked to see if the folder might have been flagged for some reason as hidden, but it was not.

I'll have another go this evening and try some of the suggestions.

It is very odd indeed.
