Hi all
over recent nights I've been getting the annoying "can't read the image" message when using APT. I've tried all sorts of things to fix this, with no effect. I'm using the ASI071 as my imaging camera and the ASI120 mini as my guide camera, both connected through my CEM12OEC mount to my laptop, via a single USB2 adaptor cable. The mount is connected to the laptop via ASCOM platform.
For example, last night I made sure I had updated my ZWO camera drivers, in APT the USB speed was 40 (I couldn't set it any lower than 40). I was using my CEM120EC mount internal cabling. Yet again, I was getting the "can't read the image" messages, but as it has proved over a number of nights, it was a bit random. I don't always get this error.
I would run say a 30 sec exposure, all fine, followed right away by say a 5 minute exposure, and got the error - nothing changed or touched in-between. It feels like a USB thing - although Device Manager didn't show any USB error alerts - and for all USB ports I had disabled the option for the laptop to limit or cut power to the port.
This is driving me spare - I can't get anything done. I could bypass the mount internal cabling, and I will try that, but that does away with the whole point of through-the-mount convenience !! Also, all the USB ports are used up on my laptop, so I would have to sacrifice say the mouse port to free up a port for one of the camera's. Is through the mount cabling the problem here ? is the "flat" USB cabling that connects the camera's the problem? Do I need to buy some super-duper USB adaptor cables ? Is there a known fault of this nature with these cameras ?
Do I need to insert a +5V hub between the cable and the USB2 input to the mount base - or between the cables connected directly to the camera's ? I really need help please !! thank you in advance to anyone who has solved this or can suggest what else I might try !
