Good one night awful the next

Hello I managed about three hours imaging Tuesday night Jan 4th 2022, the forecast for Wednesday was clear, I know it’s almost unheard of here in the UK, all I did was to take my scope off and put it inside over night. Everything worked very well on Tuesday but when I placed the scope back on on Wednesday things only worked sparodically . Batteries etc had over 50% ( both Jackery) charge, I polar aligned then slewed away from the Pole star and did a plate solve, it took 0.2 seconds to pa? I then selected m42 but the scope went off in the opposite direction so I turned everything off and started again but it would not slew to any target. I selected targets from the ‘view targets’ I tried all areas of the sky but nothing. The skies were clear. I turned everything off again and started from fresh but could not get anywhere so after about three hours I gave up. Anyone got any ideas please.

denababy clear skies? What is that? Can’t remember when i‘ve seen that… 😅

I would try to PA, then let the mount go to home position before anything else. Afterwards it might slew to your target. I had this once and it seemed like my mount confused which side of the tripod it was.

Thanks astro, I tried two ways to return my scope to the home position, manually move the scope then after shutting down and starting again I hit the return to home position button. Neither seemed to work, maybe the aap has developed a fault.

Tried the next night on a different mount and all worked fine. I am yet to try my main mount again due to weather. Will update my post once I do though. Tried everything also. Powering off every single thing and starting again, and same thing. (Not that its related as far as I know, but did you notice the 'Restore Guide Calibration being automatically set to ON' also? I turned that off as Id rather do a fresh calibration each time).

Hi improve101, I didn’t even know about the restore guide button so I will check. I have read your post, my mount is a skywatcher eq 3-2, I connect the mount with a fdti cable that goes from the mount directly into the aap, as you know it takes the handcontoller out of the game. The rate for guiding currently is set at 0.75 but after reading the previous post I’m going to change that down to 0.50, I cannot find anything that suggests the setting for my mount. Is there a users manual anywhere that I can read?
