Dear community, I am hoping you could offer assistance when editing photos. The issue is as follows: When viewing images using DSS the Live Stack created by ASIPro looks like this: I would like to then use PS to apply finishing touches but when I try opening the same file with PS, I can't see the same image or quality than DSS viewer above. When I try stretching the histogram the results are disappointing: When I try saving the image as a .TIF file and apply the adjustments used in the DSS viewer and try opening the file with GIMP 2.10 the results are similarly disappointing to PS: What I am asking is this: How to preserve the beautiful and delicate detail and textures of ASIPro Live Stack images, when using editing software like PS and GIMP? Also, is it possible to save ASIPro Live Stack images as TIFF files instead of FIT? if so how, if not could I ask why? Thanks in advance for your assistance. PP
Pedro DSS allows for saving a stretched version of the images, doesn't it? It it does, try that.
FITS is the de facto standard for astronomical images which is why ASIAir uses that. You can convert the FITS to TIFF using DSS (or other processing software). But you should do this as late in the post-processing process as possible.
