Hi all. Newby here..
so…… probably been asked before, but….
I have the above camera.. I can capture images no problem..
In fits viewer they look fine… colour.
once I stack them, grayscale. I can put them in Gimp and change the view mode to RGB but the colour is then all wrong..I have done a lot of research to correct this but I’m struggling..
what settings do I need to
a. Capture the image…
b. Stack the images so I have a colour one to adjust in Gimp or similar…
DSS or the ASI stacker gives me greyscale image..
Here is a 5 min capture of M42.. (I know focus isn’t great)
I did 4 and stacked them.
(also used flats, darks and biases)
The final image is then greyscale and I’m unable to adjust it properly..
Can anyone help???

This is just 1 5min exposure by the way, not the stacked one..

Hazy69 You need to debayer the images in order to get the color in the images. There is an option in DSS to do that but since I am not a DSS user I don't know where it is. Please ask in the DDS forum or search online.

      wvreeven cheers for the reply..
I have read about that but can’t for the life of me find where it is or how to do it:.

Here's how to batch convert to TIFF (tiffs then can be converted to
      jpg elsewhere).

      1. open Fitswork.
      2. go to Settings/Save and make sure Scale TIFF Images is
        unchecked.
      3. open one of your fits files in Fitswork.
      4. go to Processing/Bayer Interpolation/Demosaic Camera Raw
        Image
      5. select Linear Interpolation or Bayer Astro (didn't investigate the
        difference)
      6. set your Bayer pattern (RGGB etc)
      7. click on the Save button to save your Debayer settings to a * fcm
        file. Then Cancel.
      8. go to File/Batch Processing.
      9. Start File - select the first file of your sequence. Fitswork will pick
        up the rest.
      10. Destination File - anyname.tif - you need to specify the extension!
        * tif will be saved as tif. * jpg will be saved as jpg.
      11. All Files in Folder - unticked. Skip absent - ticked.
      12. Click the arrow on the right (next step)
      13. Choose Processing Function/Debayer Raw Images. Open the
        * .fcm file you saved before
      14. START and you're done.
