Remote Operation

My friend is building a remote observatory in new mexico. If I setup a pier in his observatory I would like to use asi air plus to automate my rig but at the moment im not sure this is possible. Can snyone comment if this would at all be possible?

Swizerlan i doubt that this model would work. A quick look into the manual (PDF linked on the Amazon page) gives no clue about if it supports some service like DynDNS. You would need such functionality because the router must be accessible from „outside“, so it needs a fixed IP or if the IP changed it needs to register itself at such a service. Otherwise you won’t be able to connect to it from a different location.
And you would need to be able to adjust the firewall settings so that the VNC port (or whatever port needs to be open to access the ASIAir) is open.

Swizerlan Adding to what AstroDude42 wrote, my gists explain how to allow you to make an ssh connection to your ASIAir, how to give it a fixed IP address (either public or private within the network that the ASIAIr is put in) and how to install ZeroTier as a VPN solution. I by no means am connected to ZeroTier in any way, other than being a user and that it works for me. ASIAir runs Linux and as such other VPN solutions can be used as well if you prefer. But if your friend sets up the network in his remote observatory like anyone else would, then you will need a VPN connection to be able to connect to the ASIAir using the app from a remote location.
