Dadek182 Do I just point the telescope anywhere in the sky and let it plate solve?
No! If you are using a German mount in the Northern Hemisphere, do not start with the OTA pointed to the east within 45 degrees of the Meridian. The automatic 45º westward slew (made up of two 22.5 degree slews) has the potential of crashing the instrumentation into the tripod or pier when the OTA crosses the Meridian.
Similarly, if you start by pointing the OTA to a part of the sky that is west of the Meridian, be sure to point the OTA at least 45º in declination above western horizon (preferably over 60º, to avoid atmospheric refraction). If not, the OTA will end up pointing into the ground.
You are only safe otherwise, with double fork mounts, or single fork mounts like the Avalon M series.
However, all that may be moot since the new method appears currently to only be accurate to 8 arc minutes.
