I wouldn't be surprised that it is a sequencing bug -- the ASIAIR could be trying to connect to the camera's USB port before it turns on the power hub to apply 12V to the camera.
See if you can keep the camera disconnected until ASIAIR has finished booting. Check the red power LED on the camera to see that it is on, before selecting the camera in the Main Camera Settings window.
This might be a workaround, if sequencing is the problem.
It could also be a PWM hardware problem -- not applying a clean, unmodulated 12V to the camera. If you have an oscilloscope, take a look at the 12V line to the camera. I would not use any of the power hub ports on something that is sensitive to power line noise. I don't myself ever use the ASIAIR as a power hub.
