Disaster with first image of Sun!

Tried out my new ASI120MM camera on the Sun today and was horrified at the result!

There are vertical lines on the image which are very obvious - they appear dark against light backgrounds and white against dark.

I thought it might be a problem with Ha so I tried shooting a distant tv aerial through my 80mm refractor but got exactly the same results.

I decided to try different frame rates, different resolutions and different capture programmes (SharpCap and FireCapture) - I even tried a different usb lead and a different computer but the vertical lines are still there!

I have emailed ZWO and I hope someone can help :

hello,

i have the same problem with my ASI 120mm on the sun,

this is a offset ,a very quick exposure and a AVI from 5 sec, with the optical tube closed

you can see the vertical line,

at first a using this offset in the processing, but the lines with always present on my sun picture

at last , i make a flat on the sun , i just defocalised the view, (diffuse) , and i using this flat in the processing, and it work fine !

Interesting!

I see a similar pattern on the sun but the vertical lines I see on ALL subjects are not regular - there are a group of about 5 to the right of the fov and another group of about 3 on the left side. They are consistent in all subjects and at all settings.

you can trying with a USB armored line...?

I think that is the problem of soldering.
