I attempted live stacking the other night on the Horsehead Nebula. I tried 10 seconds and 30 seconds but the image appeared overly bright and washed out. Do the sliders need to be manipulated in the histogram area? I didn’t attempt to make flats, darks, and bias. That may be part of the issue. Anyways just checking to see what all I might have done wrong. Thanks!

I was using my 102mm triplet refractor with ASI 533 camera cooled to -10. Focal length was around 544mm. I tried 30 second exposure first and it seemed overexposed. I tried 10 seconds next and it still appeared that way. Whenever I used the camera for long exposure regular imaging I had no problems. I am sure it’s just a setting or something I did wrong.

What is the gain set at?

johnpd I checked the gain switching between just regular exposures and switching over to live view and it was set at 0. I will adjust the histogram next time out and see if I get a better result. I guess I was expecting it to show up like any other exposure would. I never have any problems taking normal long exposures, but when using Live view the other night it was really bright, way more than I would think 10 seconds would do. I will try checking it this week when get a clear night.

I had it set at zero unless it somehow changed when I went into Live View. I will check when I get home.
